Valuation Analysis
Valuation analysis is the process of analyzing a security’s(usually a stock) intrinsic value. This can be done by various measurements such as discounted cash flow etc. It can also be done by comparing a stock’s valuation with others in its industry or the broad market. It should be kept in mind that none of these are accurate, they are usually only guesstimates.
Valuation analysis is an important part of fundamental analysis, since it would be unwise to pay way too much above its value for something. However, future prospects of a company are usually difficult to predict, so valuation analysis usually takes judgment, experience and a bit of luck– just like anything else–to get done well.
