Tide

Tide is a metaphor for market trends.It was first used by Robert Rhea, one of the first technical analysts. The small splashes would be the daily fluctuations, irrelevant to the tide. The waves would be the secondary trends and the tide would be the primary trend. The idea was to ignore the splashes, focus on the waves and even more on the tide.
