Stock-for-stock
Stock-for-stock is one of the ways mergers and acquisitions are completed. The acquirer exchanges its stock for the target company’s stock at a predetermined rate, this allows the acquiring company to pay less cash outlay for the acquisition, though it dilutes the ownership of original shareholders. Stock-for-stock usually only completes part of the merger, the rest is done with cash or other payments.
