Market Breadth
Market breadth is a technical measure of how strong participation in a current movement in the general stock market is. There are many indicators of market breadth, measuring the number of advancing versus declining stocks, those making 52-week new highs versus 52-week new lows etc. A bull market should be confirmed with positive market breadth, if market breadth is consistently negative during an uptrend in the market, then it may be a sign of imminent reversal. Vice versa for bear markets.
