Fixed Exchange Rate
A type of exchange rate regime where a country ties the official exchange rate with another currency(usually dollars now or gold in the past). Governments intervene to keep the exchange rate within the official boundary.
Fixed exchange rates offer more certainty for investors, importers and exporters, but it may create rather large imbalances and inefficiencies if the fixed exchange rate is either too high or too low.
