Expansionary Policy
Expansionary policies are macroeconomic policies, often enacted by central banks, to expand the money supply in order to aid economic growth. Usually an expasionary policy should lead to lower interest rates and stimulate the economy, however in some rare cases, increasing the monetary base by the central bank does not stimulate the economy, a situation known as “liquidity trap”.
