Enhanced Index Fund
A fund that attempts to surpass the return of a certain benchmark index, usually the S&P 500 for equities, by applying certain techniques to gain additional leverage. However, though this may improve returns, it also bears additional risk. An enhanced index fund sounds appealing because the stock market has a long term upward drift, but a period of weakness may give the investor additional pain.
