Chartist
Chartists are traders who trade mostly on chart formations, perhaps using other indicators as well. Chartists often use volume along with chart patterns.
The basic premise of chartists are that human nature does not change, therefore chart patterns that worked in the past, should work in the future as well. Chartists also believe that price reflects all the known knowledge and that it is not necessary to know why the price movement occured.
Whether trading on charts is justified or not is still heavily debated, however, reading charts can be useful for investors to a certain extent. Stocks like Enron repeatedly showed warning signs while falling though its fundamentals seemed solid(which we found out later, were fabricated).
