Anonymous Trading

Anonymous trading allows buyers and sellers to place bids and offers for stocks without revealing their identity. Therefore people who are buying or selling large amounts of stock can do so without giving away their identity to other market participants.

However, this does not mean any trade is totally anonymous, the Securities & Exchange Commission attempts to keep an eye on insider trading.
