Any idea on what can be done with these?

Visited my mom this weekend and came upon old Royal Dutch Petroleum Company preferred shares. I had forgotton I had recieved them as a gift when I was 13. Now I know Royal Dutch was sold in 2005 to Shell oil. How would I go about finding if there is any value to these shares, and how I can cash in on them? I have included an image of the front of the share. I also have dividends pages, but did not scan those.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

There should definitely be value here. It also depends though on how the acquisition took place. If Shell paid cash for Royal Dutch then these shares may simply have a set cash value.

Your best bet would probably be to take the certificate in to a local branch office of a brokerage (Scottrade, Fidelity, Schwab, etc.) and see what they say about it.

Good luck, let us know what you find out!
