Did I miss the boat? [Novice trader]

I'm a 19 yr old novice stock trader that in college and i've been researching about what I should invest in now. I've been finding that people tend to advise newbies to stick to mutual or index funds but I've also been reading about other investors saying that I should invest in stock because the market bottomed out. I also hear some people saying that the market hasn't bottomed out yet and I should wait until it does and they buy because stocks can only go up. I would appreciate any advice that investors can give me based on your experience.

Save your money and learn as much as you humanly can while all of this is going on. Then, once the market REALLY bottoms (even if you miss it by say 6 months your still fine) you will be prepared to make the most of it.
