Stock from the 70's

My husband had some stock from the 70's. He stored it down in his mother's basement and the basement flooded. Is there anything we can do to track it down?

Yes, just because you lost the certificate shouldn't mean you are completely out of luck. Do you know the broker where you held the stock originally? This may be a big first lead into gathering information, because in the end you still own the stock.

Though I have not had this happen to me before, another idea may be to call the company (as long as you know the name), speak with their investor relationships rep, and tell them your story. They should be able to look up your name as a shareholder and print you a new certificate.

Hope that helps - good luck!

There are number of ways to track down the stock - the company's transfer agent is usually the first place to go.
