Hi in Canada to eh. E trade is one online broker. The major banks have investing accounts where you can trade stocks among other things but their fees are rather high. I believe Scot trade has a Canadian arm as well.
How ever since you are new I should tell you that you owe it to yourself to get educated about the stock market and how it works before you put any money at risk. One way to do this would be to use a simulator to try trading.
Investopedia.com - Your Source For Investing Education Has a superlative simulator and allows you to trade Canadian stocks on several of the games there or you can start your own competition. They also have a good line up of tutorials and a data base full of information on all things stock related.
The forums and the wiki here at FIO are also a great source of info and if you use the search option here it can lead you to many posts on any topic you may be interested in. Finally when you need to ask questions in this forum and we will be happy to help you out.
Joe
