Private Stocks

My Wife has a significant amount of private stock in her ex-husbands business. He is not the head of the business, his partner is. She has attempted to sell the stocks back to the company but no one will answer her inquiries. She has even sent registerred letter inquiry. She would like out of ownership because it is a weird situation and we aren't sure that it will ever pay off for her because of her relationship - they will find a way to cut her out.

Does anyone know of a way to get their attention to purchase the stock? She only wants fair compensation, not to sell it at a mark up.

Thanks,

Jet

Contact some funds, mostly private equity or venture capital if her stake is big enough....

Hire a lock smith to change the locks on the business that will get their attention (bad idea if you want to settle this in a nice way) Hire a lawyer to get to the bottom of her rights etc.. If that does not work then go back to the divorce lawyer and hammer the ex into the ground financially. That will get his attention in a big hurry.

I agree with Joe here, if they won't hear from you you need to do take some sort of action. That doesn't mean goign as far as changing locks, but I would bring in a lawyer and see what they think. Your wife has a right to the shares and selling them, and if they can't see that then legal help will aid the process.

Let us know how it turns out, I'd be interested to hear.

Good luck!
