Technically, the stock is forming a very nice cup with handle. It appears to be in the handle stage and I'm anticipating it coming out. If it does breakout, this will be the stock's all-time high, meaning that it will have no overhead.

Technical shortcomings are that it appears to be in a high-stage base, which are failure-prone and have smaller upside.

Fundementally, the stock looks great: an 98 overall ranking from IBD, huge quarter over quarter earnings and sales growth, the number five ranked industry group, increasing magins and an 18.45% ROE.

Fundemental shortcomings are a dismal D+ Acc/Dis rating from IBD (however this is curious because the Acc/Dis and On Balance Volume graphs on stockcharts.com show a very strong upward movement; curious indeed).

Also, it has shown sporatic year over year earnings:

12/31/04 0.51 [ 1175 %]
12/31/03 0.04 [ -67 %]
12/31/02 0.12 [ -52 %]
12/31/01 0.25 [ 292 %]
12/31/00 -0.13 [ 0 %]

Obviously a nice spike in '04, however it doesn't lend much to the trend.

On balance, is the stock a buy if it breaks out (the market IS a bull, afterall), or should I look for something better?

you know me when it comes to CANSLIM moss, I like to keep things simple and look at the 50-day and accumulation distribution. Today has been pretty volatile, the volume should give a read on something perhaps. Correct if I am wrong here but isn't that dip from the top of $41.49 to $32.38 pretty steep for a CANSLIM base? Also, I think the end of the handle is supposed to have volume lighten up? I do not see that happening right now. Acc/Dis rating is a D+ for some reason, but group RS is A+. Is this thing a leader in its industry group? Just some random questions to give ya a different look at it, my opinion stays neutral, interesting chart history. OOO, another thing to check out, and I may be wrong here, but is are we on the 5th base now?

Regards,
