stock research

besides the obvious like P/e, debt ratio, operating margin...... stuff on the key statistics.i try to stick with stocks that their peers have a positive ytd perfromance also. what other details do i need to pay attn in my research before buying a stock? appreciate all the advice you guys have been giving

Honestly Dee, those are pretty big ones that you already have.

Remember the market rules:

1) Money management principles is what will make you money in the end, not the hottest stock. Accuracy rate only counts for 1/5 of a successful money management strategy.

2) Trade with the trend, the trend is your friend. But Volume is your best buddy.

3) Know your time frame.

This is very important as you have to flow with the trends. Tracking the leaders of the group is a fantastic way to stay ahead of the game. Take a look at fertilizers for example. CF, MOS, and POT as #1 have all lead the group consistently higher through the last year+.

Another I personally promote is to always cut your losses short. 5 - 7% are standard for stop losses and in this market 2 - 4% is even arguably too large.
