China on the rise

I have heard little bits and pieces about China on the rise for becoming an economic supremecy worldwide along with India. I am sure everyone has heard that China is going to the top and will potentially surpass the US. What is everyone's opinion on this?

Personally I don't think it will happen, if it does it's a long time comming. China has the potential to have a higher GDP (they have a billion potential consumers) But until they get rid of their communist government, nothing will be even close. The only way you can attain to be on the same level of the US, is it insitute a complete(with some humane exceptions) free market.

they have, its offically not communist by technical standards, its Authorian Fascism IE right wing nationalism with a mixture of limited personal freedoms (emphasis on limited) and a market economy.

By 2025 is a conservative estimate of when China will overtake the USA economy.

I think by 2010 we'll know what'll happen, since that is the "big year" of change.

Actually its widely figured that China will be the second largest economy in 2025, SORRY FOLKS

but if USA continues on the war path and all that debt starts adding up it could very well rise to dominance...
