My problem is I have too little time, and too many hobbies.
Where to begin?
On the fitness route? I study Krav Maga, Parkour, running and weight training. I've started to study Escrima, but I don't like it's reliance on weapons, which is why I prefer Krav Maga - which is all about 'disarming' the opponent. But I am curious to get to Escrima's hand to hand fighting, which is unfortunately taught after all the knife fighting. I also play Tennis, and I tell people, that instead of playing Golf? I play "at" Golf.
I also study languages, am conversant in Russian, and study 12 other languages. I study a science known as "Textual Criticism" - which is the science of determining what ancient documents actually said - originally. The Bible, Homer's poems, the histories of Thucydides, Herodotus and Xenephon? Textual Criticism takes a look at the age, type, and number of available papyri manuscripts of these types of ancient texts - and determines what the absolute original document (
called the archtype) actually said - and how easy it is to know if we have a reliable copy of the ancient document.
On the creative route - I paint (
in oils, using something called the Impasto technique) as well as write. I play the guitar and bass.
I also love to travel. My goal is to hit all seven continents. I've already been to South America, North America, Oceana, and Europe. In 2009 - I may be traveling to Africa, or possibly Asia. And yes, I do mean all
seven continents. I've been checking out tours to Antartica.
I could probably think of more hobbies. I figure - we never know what our lives will be tomorrow, and each day we live and breathe is a gift. I intend on taking advantage of each second.
