Starting back up! Elliptical Machine?

Well after pretty much a semester off from running and I can barely do a mile anymore.(I was doing 4 miles a day last year) Haha I am building back up pretty quickly within the last few visits to the gym though.

I have started adding in the elliptical machine for about 30 mins at the end of each workout, from what I can tell, it's about as effective as running in terms of burning calories and a lot easier on the knees.

Anyone else noticed this too?

Swimming is also great cardio and easy on the knees. I wouldn't really know about the elliptical, but hey whatever works!

I haven't tried an ellitpical machine before but I really want to try swimming as a form of exercise. Right now I play sports two days a week which helps a lot, and I gave up pop, night and day difference. Do either of you guys swim at all?

Hmm. Well we run the gambit. Not much for swimming (The wife is, she was once a lifeguard) - unless I'm out on the waveraider on the Lake (Erie) and happen to take a corner to fast and end up in the drink.

I'm more one for the gym, with the ol' dumbbells. Nothing "Arnold" like. But as long as I can stay fit and trim, with a bit of muscle mass, then I'm happy.
