New Competition Idea

See what you guys make of this:

"I have an idea for you Blain.

Corporate sponsors - Sponsor program:
Corporate sponsors would pick stock investors in the competitions and offer
to sponsor the one they pick. An ad would then be placed for them on the
players threads (like the avitars) only to the right of the avitars, after
the players name. This way, they get free publicity when someone views
threads or other information on the site that pertains to that player.

Corporate sponsors - Winners Hall of fame.
When a corporate sponsor picks a player in the Sponsor program above, the
money they contribute to sponsor that player can become the prize for the
player when they win the competition. In return, the sponsor gets their ads
plastered around on the Winners circle page (or hall of fame page for that
winner).

This idea is like what they do for race cars in NASCAR for example. This
may help you to really boost your sponsorship and get attention to the work
you are doing with the site.

Holy carp that is a great idea if we can make it work. Brilliant! As the Brits say. Do the individual contestants vie for the sponsor ship?? Or do we go for team FIO, team MySpace, Team Scott trade Team Investopedia ETC. Now that would be a big one if we could get oit going the Grand Prix of stock sim competition. There is a Grand Prix of drystack walling in Briton I like this concept and I think we should try to go big or stay at home with it. If we went to other forums and challaged other teams etc we could be onto something huge here! dang I am pumped. just need to figure out the details.. Way to go Larry

WOW, I think this was one of the ideas that Blain had shot at me a while back, but then I forgot about it totally. I think that we could do both? Have a contest for teams, and then the normal FIO contest. Some people are team players, some people are not. We might as well cater to both of them ;-).

A couple of questions, what happens to the money if the totally bomb? Could we have it set up that if the place in a certain spot, the money goes to the player, and if they don't make the cut, the money goes to the FIO? This would be promoting winning over learning which i don't think we want to do.

Overall, I like the idea though!

I just been thinking about the Grand Prix idea and I think I know a way to pitch it. I think we should go to the other sites like MySpace and rich dad ETC and just throw down the glove Team FIO challenges team whoever to compete and give details of the rules of the competition(s) or series of competitions. have 4-6 man teams and compete head to head each team will seek sponsors and we need to seek a competition sponsor. could have amature and pro series etc.. We need to come up with some rules and such. What think you all?

wow this took off, you guys have me pumped now lol.

I honestly didn't even understand the email until you guys started explaining it so good deal. Mark is right, we had a team competition, but not enough people signed up for it. If we setup a battle between sites that would be pretty crazy and surely bring in some attention.

Maybe we can have the FIO take care of all the message boards, rankings, etc. and charge an entry fee per site? Or, we should create a new forum on the idea, just go blab the concept to these sites, and bring um over to the FIO to discuss it?

Either way I think we should get a main concept and take this thing to the "public". How bout we get in the chat system tomorrow at like 9 and have the meeting then before the main FIO meeting begins...

I like the team idea, which we actually did have at one point, just not as innovated. My thought is that we cannot actually have a "team richdad" or a "team investopedia" without the site knowing what is up. BUT, why don't we just say where the members are from? for example

Team: The Destroyers
From: Investopedia.com
Total Team Members: 7

Team: Infinity
From: Falkininvesting.com
Total Team Members: 5

Like that? That way the team can represent their favorite site, and at the same time still be grouped together .

I have connections with some smaller sites that would probably love to sponsor a team. Have them make like a small donation to the FIO, then they are the sponsor of that team. Create seperate sections for each team with their sponsors name. And like Larry suggested in the email, if the team wins then the sponsor can go down in the "hall of fame" with that team.

If the player is not in the top 10, then it is a gamble on the part of the sponsor, they get listed in an over all competitors type of list, but they don't get the extra splash of advertising that would come from winners circle. Also, if their pony lost, their money would go directly to contributions of the FIO org. Only the top 10 would get splash recognition, like an extra ad per level in the top 10 positions with 10 being 1 ad more than remainder and incrementing to first place.

Winning over learning, I would say that this would reward those who learned to play well. Also, we could have another one that would be sponsor voted most learned or most educated growth or something like that. It would be an award from the sponsors where they think that the persons learning has improved over a period of time (more than one competiton I would suggest).

This way, we would be rewarding those who learn to win and those who learn the most.

Just be careful that the rules don't trim out peoples trading styles. I love the idea of spanking on an options player with just stock trades. It kind of boosts my ego a little and bruises theirs (*Evil Grin*).
