How's it going, eh!

Greetings Falkin community,
My name is Jiri, I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada and I am a newbie player on the stock market. My fellow countryman gijoe9 encouraged me to post here and introduce myself to all of you folks. Well, I am 32, I have immigrated to Canada last year from Prague, Czech Republic (it has been "Czech Republic" for 12 years now, so North America please forget Czechoslovakia already...) and during the last couple of months I have been apprenticing with my father-in-law who is an experienced market trader with an incredibly successful portfolio. But since I don't want to just copy his moves I am looking forward to utilizing all the resources of FIO and perhaps make it on my own. But looking at all the terms and expressions which I would not understand even if English was my first language I think I won't quit my dayjob quite yet....

I am new here myself and at present have limited investment knowledge....mainly rollover IRAs and mutual funds...but am expanding into other areas. I would be willing to help any way I can!

I want to compliment your post....If you hadn't stated that you just came from the Czech Republic a year ago, I would have thought you were a lifelong resident of Canada or USA. Well done!

Also, I grew up and have lived during the entire span of the "cold war". I can assure you most people hold no ill will towards the PEOPLE of the former Soviet bloc countries. The Soviet Union, now that's a different story.
Immigrants from Eastern Europe had a great deal to do with shaping the future of the USA and other countries. Welcome!
