I've heard scary things about PayPal, too. So I opened an additional checking account for my paypal transactions, just so they are separate from my household account.

It's really awful what's happening. I'm not sure if you have an ebay business or you just happened to sell something, or somewhere in between. But you'll have to decide how much it's going to hurt you in the long run if you don't pay the $45.

It's possible (though not likely) that the buyer actually didn't get the goods. (What kind of feedback does he have and what kind has he left for others?)

If your seller reputation and paypal access isn't that important to you, then don't worry about it. On the other hand, if this is a business you're trying to protect, you may have to take on in the jaw.

Or, maybe not. If you've got a feedback rating of 8500 already, one little bad feedback isn't going to hurt you that much. But not having paypal may hurt a lot.

You've got $45 in your hand, Zen. Whatcha gonna buy with it? (Tick tock!)
