New Investing Book, Reading Minds and Markets
FT Press & Wharton School Publishing were kind enough to send us a copy of the brand new investing book, Reading Minds and Markets. Written by Jack Ablin the book breaks down how to minimize risk and maximize returns in the current volatile marketplace.
Ablin is the Chief Investment Officer of Harris Private Bank and currently oversees tens of billions of dollars in assets for private clients. He has been involved in the markets for over 25 years Ablin has found success by simplifying the investment process.
Ablin recommends investors stay away from picking individual stocks and instead focus on big trends by investing in ETFs. In a recent Tech Ticker interview he believes the trend is looking up and will be overweight (bullish) stocks well into 2010. With a lot of cash still sitting on the sidelines Ablin believes there could be further buying even after the most recent rally.
While we have not had the chance to read the book yet, Ablin promotes that in five simple steps investors can be on the road to investing more smartly and securely. They are:
- Momentum: befriending the trend
- The economy: headwind or tailwind for stocks?
- Liquidity: follow the money
- Psychology: greed v. fear
- Fundamentals and valuation
Reading Minds and Markets can be purchased at Amazon.com for under $20 and is also available on the Kindle.
