Like Etrade Mobile Pro and TD Ameritrade’s iStockManager Scottrade is now taking steps to providing a full service mobile site for its own clients. The service released recently is simply called Scottrade Mobile (m.scottrade.com) and is free for all current members.
From their press release Scottrade highlights the Mobile platforms’ key features:
Scottrade Mobile users also can access up-to-the-minute market and account information through the site’s extensive research tools from industry leaders like Briefing.com, Comtex, Dow Jones, Lipper, Reuters, Standard & Poor’s, and Thomson Financial. This includes:
- Stock and ETF screeners
- Market research and news, including markets overview, statistics, news and commentary, analyst views and a brief market calendar
- Stock quotes and research, including news and commentary, charts, options, fundamentals, insider transactions, earnings and financials
- ETF quotes and research, including news and commentary, charts, options, performance, portfolio, expenses and Lipper rankings
- SmartTextTM, which summarizes complex charts and information into plain English that is easy to understand
We had the opportunity to test the site and overall were impressed. For being a first version Scottrade Mobile does what it advertises and is a newly found asset for any clients who previously were looking for a way to access the site via their phones. The buttons were easy to find and navigation was user friendly. Costmetically there is room for improvement but it worked well with the iPhone 3g we tested it on.
What Scottrade needs now though is to take Scottrade Mobile to the next level and build an iPhone application. Etrade Mobile Pro and TD Ameritrade’s iStockManager have both been around for a while now and are both fantastic tools for clients.
Scottrade Mobile (m.scottrade.com) is free for clients, easy to use, and puts Scottrade on the map for atleast having a mobile application. Now clients can get quotes, do research, and make stock trades on the go with ease. The Scottrade Rep we spoke with said this was the first step for their larger mobile strategy and we can only hope the next includes announcing a new Scottrade iPhone App. We shall see.
