Beating the Odds, A Full Time Internet Income

Blain Reinkensmeyer

After a full year of sleepless nights and hard work I am very happy to report, “My name is Blain Reinkensmeyer, I am 22 years old, and I make a full time income off the internet.”

Last May when I was celebrating my 21st birthday I got a crazy idea that I wanted to work from my bedroom and make a living off the internet. I decided that I would try to build my income to atleast $3,000 a month by my next Birthday, or in one years time.

Over the last year through a lot of trial and error I have taken my site earnings from $283.06 in May 2007 to this month a record $1,669.73. This past May also concluded my first month working with Covestor.com as a full time internet based employee.

Not only have I reached my $3,000 monthly goal, but I’ve surpassed it with flying colors.

To celebrate John Chow was so kind to have his site chip in $75 which I used to purchase a keg. Sadly I am not a big drinker, but I have friends that are  . They happily supported the cause, and below you will find my victory picture of me holding the empty keg over my head.

full time internet income

I hope this post inspires others to pursue the dream of attaining a full time internet income, because it is very possible. Just bust your butt and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. The only person holding you back is yourself.

For those getting started, I highly recommend checking out Darren Rowse and his site problogger.net which helped me learn the basics of blogging. His site is a fantastic resource for anyone just getting started and really every blogger. To compliment Darren all you need to do is see John Chow earn $30,000+ a month and that should be enough to get your fire started.

With this goal accomplished my latest crazy idea is to create a side income from stock trading that can surpass my full time internet income. Last month was a good start with 15.9% portfolio growth, so we will have to see what I can do by next year.

  1. Congrats! Good motivation for a relatively new pf blogger like myself. I had a recent post talking about the RSS readership and it’s correlation with Blog Revenue. You have a pretty high rate of more than $1 per reader (obviously your revene is from various sources). Great blog as well and is now on my RSS reader.

  2. Congrats Blain! I’d be interested to see what your income break down is. What ever happened to those reports?

It’s always great to see colleagues break into the space of full time blogging.

  3. This is crazy!

A big congratulation to you man! Several months ago, I declared on my blog that you will become the next John Chow. There are might be others to become John Chow’s of this world but you will surely become one!

keep it up, you are definitely a source of inspiration!

    Cheers,

    FB.

  4. When there is a will there is a way…Salute for you Blain. Keep up your good job.

  5. Huge congrats to you Blain, you’ve been working hard for it …

  6. Blain:

It’s amazing to read those knowing that almost four years ago you started on this incredibly challenging journey to financial “freedom” (if you can even call it that).

I’m so proud of you and what you stand for, your integrity is of the highest standards and your passion to provide “free stock eduction” is truly something admirable.

Now we just need to get that patent completed!

    Rock on lil’ bro!

    -Brandon

  7. Congrats man. You’re definitely working harder than it than I am. I still consider this a hobby, but I’m leaning towards pushing it as a business simply because I’m running out of steam.

Sadly, though, I would need more than $3k/mth from my site to match my day job income, but 3k per month would definitely be an awesome supplement. I’m looking at about $1200 per month now, which isn’t bad considering I don’t actively search for income.

  8. That’s great, congrats!
