Breakout Watch, Fertilizer Stocks Ready To Go

There are a handful of fertilizer stocks that are currently basing out and could move well to the upside soon.

Some of these names were mentioned with my original fertilizers post. With any new positions right now make sure to keep stop losses tight.

Mosaic (MOS)

My favorite out of this group. I am a buyer of MOS with a break above $101 or if it gaps at the open tomorrow. Stock should easily cruise back up to $110 with a good break.

Potash (POT)

The undisputed leader of the group, POT is looking to be a buy with a break above $145. Volume should surpass 9 million shares on this day.

C F Industries (CF)

CF should follow the rest of the pack. Recent accumulation suggests higher prices to come. Look for a buy above $112.

Terra Industries (TRA)

If TRA can move out of this descending channel to the upside the stock is good for a move to atleast $50. Buypoint is $44.50 or tomorrow if the stock opens to a gap on the upside.

Monsanto (MON)

What you are looking for is a high volume break above $116. This isn’t the best stock in the group, but it should follow its peers.

It was a shame most of these broke their trigger prices premarket

I’m long POT currently , it still has a lot of potential, but I just missed the high no my sell limit order by about 25 cents….grrr ;0.
Anyay, in retrospect, I know I’ve been touting high earnings growth (such as POT of course) and timing. One thing that I have been utilizing lately after checking some of my emails is Yahoo alerts. They are free, and as long as you have an account on yahoo, you can sign up for an account. I placed a 5% against Potash and this is what I came up with:
2/7 email:
Last Change %Change Prv Cls High Low Volume
131.90 -6.97 -5.02 138.87 136.71 131.28 1394635
2/12 email:
Last Change %Change Prv Cls High Low Volume
151.28 7.20 5.00 144.08 151.47 146.01 1508634

Not touting POT in particular (still one of my faves), but just wanted to point out as a new investor how Yahoo alerts can help a bit (albeit they are 20 minute delays).
Regards,
Ray

Hmm, thanks for sending this over. I have used alerts with TD Ameritrade, sounds similar just haven’t used them in a while. Very cool.
