Top Commentator Contest, December 2007

Congratulations again to the winners and runner ups of the November Top Commentator Contest. We are keeping the ball rolling in December with the same setup as November, except that the top 4 placers automatically receive prizes, no random drawing this month.

Prizes up for grabs this month include a featured posts site mention, two sets of 1 month text links, and two amazon.com gift certificates.

  1. Top commentator (reader who leaves the most comments) wins a individual mention here on the blog of their site, their feed, and 5 of their favorite posts they want STTG readers to read. Also, they win a free site wide text link in January.
  2. 1st runner-up top commentator wins a free site wide text link in January.
  3. 2nd and 3rd runner up top commentators will receive a $10 gift certificate to amazon.com.

Being a top commentator is easy, after reading any article here on the STTG blog simply leave a comment by scrolling to the end of the article and filling out the comment form. (Note: The comment form does not appear on the site homepage).

The top 8 readers that leave the most comments are displayed live and proud on the site throughout the month. Good luck twisted .

Well the price for the first runner up is awful. A site wide link in the month of December? Sheesh! Good luck to all the commentators on here. I’ll take a page from Bubs’ book and scale back this month twisted

Looks like some more good prizes for this month’s contest. It seems like the comment contests have been very helpful for this site. Blain, do you think a good amount of growth can be traced to the contests?

That is a good question Aaron. To be honest I don’t think so, it really isn’t a traffic builder but more so a community value builder if that makes sense. The top commentator list may have only 1 or 2 new faces each month on it so really it is taken advantage of by those who are already been readers for a long while. I do every month as a way to thank my daily readers (you guys) and to build better relationships with you. More comments = more talking = better contacts.

This is good. I like your idea for the winners. I want to be in first 3. I want to win because I want more friends from all over the world. More comments = more talking = better contacts=more friends -) .

Blain,

Yeah that is probably true. It does make the community far more enjoyable, and I do think that it would certainly help you in retaining visitors and making them into frequent readers.
