Weekend Finance Roundup

A collection of posts I’ve read this week from around the blogosphere, finance related of course:

  • Market Corrections, Bears and the Big Picture – Chris discusses the recent market pullback and how shakeouts can actually be a positive event for investors. Chris reminds us not to panic during a market correction.
  • Financials, Worse Than They Look? – One of my all time favorite writers, Barry discusses the financials market and the subprime havoc that has taken its toll on all investors. Includes some visual representations to help clarify how big this actually is.
  • Million Dollar Journey Best Posts of October – Frugal Trader shows off his top posts from the month of October, and all of them are definitely worth reading.
  • WallStrip.com – WallStrip brings humor and sanity back into the market, so have some fun. The Trump feature this week was quite the post, I like Howard’s commentary on this one.
  • 10 Most Important Things I Have Learned About Dividend Investing – A very well written list from the Dividend Guy and it can really be applied to trading in general. A lot of good tips to remember for investing in the market.
  • 5 Options Blogs I Really Like – A Trade A Day lists 5 quality blogs dedicated to options trading. Hope those options strategies have been working out for you man.
  • Funding an IRA When Yo’re Not Sure You Can Afford It – I have been looking into opening a Roth IRA and getting myself started early saving for the future. This post answered some of my questions and actually has me excited to now get myself a Roth IRA opened before the tax year’s end. Thanks Nickel.
  • How to Put Your Personal Finances on Auto Pilot – Blueprint for Financial Prosperity nailed this article well on the head with some awesome insight into personal finances. Covers retirement, budgeting, bills, investing, and more.
  • Illustrated Cash Flow For Dummies – Golb breaks it down for us real easy with clean cut visual images. Way to lay it out there Golb! Also check out his top posts from October.
  • $614 Made in One Day Trading – Last month’s top commentator Trader Bubs from here on the blog had a great day this week. Recap the trades he made to make the returns. Nice one Bubs!
  • Futures Trading – OptionsAddict discusses futures trading, specifically the e-minis. Very good read for anyone taking an interest in the subject and wanting a breakdown of things work.
  • The Power of the 200 MA – A well detailed post from Oliver Velez which includes a visual reference. It describes moving averages as a whole but focuses on the 200 ma as a favorite for making money. For those who utilize MAs my favorites are the 20 and 50 day.
  • The Subprime Crisis Explained in Simple Terms – Trader’s Narrative posted a great video from the UK which explains the mortgage crisis in an easy to understand way. The 7 minute or so video is definitely worth your time.

Can you go ahead and give Jorge the November award for comments? He’s gotten so good he even slips in the comments to congratulate others for commenting. (Of course I’m not doing that with this one…)

On topic, apparently I need to come up with something more clever to write about this week to make Blain’s list. Maybe my post today about the VIX and VXN will help. ;-)
