I use a screener to narrow the fundamental field and then I search the technicals. No hard work (long hours) if you trust your screen database. The detailed fundamental analysis only comes into play whne looking for longer term trades (years, not weeks and months).

You say ti perfect here: "You walk into conducting your chart analysis knowing that every pick you have is strong already, so really technical analysis is just a simple way to narrow down an already elite group of stocks"

I like technical analysis to find trades. I use fundamental analysis for longer term trades, but still use technical analysis to time my entry/exit.

Technical analysis is very efficient in terms of time, but a stock still needs a reason to go up. If you can get the technicians and the fundies buying the same stock, its going to work out well for both groups.
