New Blog Design, Before and After Photos
Everything is now running pretty smoothly with the new blog design, which was done by Nate Whitehill who also did JohnChow.com and more recently ShoeMoney.com. I originally was going to have Nate just redesign the header, but after seeing the initial work I couldn’t help it, I had to go with a whole new custom setup.
Below is what my blog looked like before (click to enlarge, click again to zoom), which was a custom design I made myself. It served its purpose while up and illustrated the extent of what I could do on the design side of things,
I knew there wasn’t much more I could accomplish without buying a few books and really going nuts, learning the advanced tricks of site design. So, I contacted Nate and really wanted him to focus on a clean design that also allowed me to better feature my best content (I seeked a three column header). I had a rough idea of what I wanted, and as you can see Nate did a really good job. Here is a screenshot (click to enlarge, click again to zoom) for comparison,
The new design has a wide variety of added changes:
- Wider layout
- CSS menu at the top left
- Search box in the top along with an added RSS button
- New simple logo design
- Three columns in the header to display featured, community, and beginner content
- A wider and redesigned sidebar (better exposure for advertisers and top commentators)
- New fonts and header tags
- A new three column footer
Most of you guys really seem to enjoy the new design, and I really appreciate the feedback. The best part of all is that its Unique, and you aren’t going to see another StockTradingToGo.com design anytime soon, unless it’s stockchartstogo.com, but thats another story

Is your blog based on a commercial package or home grown? I love the look/feel but assume that underneath the hood it’s a general blog engine type site? I’m thinking of installing one of them but cannot determine which.
