It’s great that you’re offering stuff free to your readers. Just a question – would this kind of competition be run only when you have readers. My new blog is just picking up so I’m weary of putting out a competition and getting very minimal competition.

It depends on what you are looking to accomplish. If you want to build back links then set it up so people have to post and announce it (the bigger the prize the easier it is to draw entries). If you want to simply get your community more actively involved in your blog then you could go this route. Ya know what I mean? It all depends on what you want to accomplish with the contest.
I want this book.
