Reading can be a great way to expand your knowledge base, hone your skills, and simply learn something new.

Here is a list of books I have read on investing in no particular order. After you read through this quick list please add any great books you’ve read via comment so I can add them on. Note: These books can all be purchased at Amazon.com (aff):

  • How to Make Money in Stocks, William O’Neil. A fantastic read and was a huge national bestseller for quite some time. It is a great introduction to stock trading in general and Will O’Neil’s philosophies. Will O’Neil is the founder of Investors Business Daily.
  • Think and Grow Rich, Napolean Hill. Selling over 15 million copies, Think and Grow Rich was a great read and has a strong focus on psychology. Not a stock market read, but more so a read on becoming successful and wealthy.
  • Buffett, Roger Lowenstein. A #1 National Bestseller, Buffett, The Making of an American Capitalist is one of my favorite books I’ve read to date. If you want to read up on the greatest investor of all time and learn the story behind Berkshire Hathaway, this book is for you.
  • Confessions of a Street Addict, Jim Cramer. Continuing with our trend here, this is another National best seller. I loved this book because it allowed me to enter the mind of Jim and learn his story on how he got started and how he got to where he is today. Jim Cramer cofounded thestreet.com.
  • 24 Essential Lessons for Investment Success, William O’Neil. Another product of Will O’Neil, this book was a national bestseller and is a great starting point for new traders. Each lessons is unique and full of wealth and knowledge.
  • The Richest Man in Babylon, George Clason. A simple read, but a read that will change you forever. The concepts brought by this book are easy to comprehend and apply. Not stock trading related, the book is more so a wealth and money management guide. Written in the ancient times this book is also one of my all time favorites.

What are your favorite investment books?

James Cramer - despite what one may think about his advice - is a really entertaining read. I’m pretty sure I read the book you list above, and remember his amusing anecdote about going through the crash of 87 where he nearly quit trading.

That book was really good, I enjoyed that portion, wasn’t that when he was saved by the Feds cutting rates by half a point midday when he was going to have to liquidate the whole fund at the end of the week?

Hey Blain,
That is rather funny that we both posted about it today (Richest Man in Babylon).

On another note: I finally went and got the latest Tiesto album. I love it: Elements of Life. I am looking to go to the show in Atlantic City at the Borgata in October. I downloaded my first tiesto set in collge (1999) using Napster and he has never disappointed yet.

Enjoy!

The book that has been most benefical to me in investing has been “One up On Wall Street” by Peter Lynch. Lynch has a terrific style of writing that is very easy to read and I learned a lot through that book.
