Zecco.com, the free trading community, just sent all Beta testers of their ZeccoShare platform a notice of recent enhancements and updates. Summarizing the email, updates include:

  • Improved search results
  • Better displays
  • Groups Feature
  • Issues resolved with getting trades and portfolio holdings updated
  • Everything data wise is now displayed in your ZeccoShare profile

On the Groups feature Zecco writes, “The biggest (and coolest) new feature is Groups. This lets you combine with your friends and favorites to see your group holdings and trades, have discussions, and meet new people. Groups can be completely open, or you can create private groups for a select group of your closest investing buddies.”

After looking at the groups it really is a step in the right direction for ZeccoShare overall, though I feel ZeccoShare has a long way to go if they want to compete with already established Covester.com and Motley Fool CAPS.

For me the platform just doesn’t have enough excitement built into it. The features are weak compared to what competitors offer, and the community really isn’t that large in size.

NOTE: ZeccoShare allows you to show of your actual trades, and actually TradeKing’s community allows you to do the same. You do this by uploading your trade history into your profile. But, by doing this you limit your community to only registered investors of your brokerage. A site like Covestor that allows you to download data from multiple brokers as of now seems to be the way to go.

  1. I am kind of new to Zecco. Are you talking about real trade or simulator?
While I don’t mind discussing about my trades on a blog for example, I am not sure I would share my entire portfolio online with other investors…

  2. Real trades. You import your trade history and current positions into your profile for all to view. It is the ultimate way to prove you are the man
