I happen to know an "old-timer" who sold 100K worth of lionel trains-some of these trains had never been offered in the lionel catalogs, or were offered in the 1920's. He sold off his entire collection and bought a share of BRK-A. I don't know how much he actually paid but it was over 100K. He also has Brk-B stock. So it can be done, it's just how much are you willing to sell and trade to come up with the money. His grandkids are set for a long time. As i said, hang on to it for dear life and sell it only if the unthinkable occurs and washington manages to "successfully" implode the stockmarket. Even in a depression, right now-Sept 09 2009, at 8:58am EST, it's still selling for 97k a share. I don't know about anyone else but i think that having 97k in reserve for the longterm would "ease the pain", if something like losing your job were to occur. (Nah that'ed never happen!!!!!) I been out of work for a year and im still trying to come back. Having enough money to buy a share of BrK-A is a dream still worth chasing!!!!
