Stock lingo, Zombies!!
Zombies is a stock lingo term that describes companies that continue to operate even though they are insolvent.
So, basically, it is HIGHLY advisable to NOT invest in zombies at all costs. Why? You do not know what the heck will happen down the road! The company could die… AGAIN at any given time without you knowing.
Another description of Zombies are the, “living dead” or “zombie stocks”.
Perhaps you will never run into an investor down in your investing career trying to sell you on putting money into this “great company” that is a zombie. Perhaps you receive offers to invest in zombies each and every day. Whatever the case, you are better off just staying away because though may they seem friendly at first… in the end they just want to eat you…
Some humor to close this post, I will relay a few memorable quotes from Night of the Living Dead, the movie made in 1968:
- Field Reporter:
Chief, if I were surrounded by eight or ten of these things, would I stand a chance with them? - Sheriff McClelland:
Well, there’s no problem. If you have a gun, shoot ‘em in the head.
That’s a sure way to kill ‘em. If you don’t, get yourself a club or a
torch. Beat ‘em or burn ‘em. They go up pretty easy.
Or this is a clutch line, which to be honest with you is slightly confusing to me still…
- Reverend John Hicks: Spiked, as the hands of Jesus were spiked to the cross! SPIKE the dead
to prevent them from rising again before Judgment Day! All sinners must
repent and the dead must be spiked! Heed the Word of the Lord, or the
dead will rise again possessed by demons, and ye who are unclean shall
be damned forever and ever in eternal fire!
