Stock Contest Alpha, Winners Announced!
After a grueling week in the market (as in lots of movement and many leaderboard changes) winners of our stock contest alpha showdown have been found! If you are just joining us for stock contest alpha, brought together were 6 blog communities (including us here) and their readers. Participants left comments on all 6 blogs stating one stock pick and one guess of what they thought the Nasdaq index would close at on Friday the 13th. I have been tracking not only the top stock picks from this past Monday to today, but also the closest Nasdaq close guess and the best community overall (avg of all picks together)!

Point Distribution for Ultimate Winner
Stated in the last update, I will be announcing the top three placers in all three of our categories. For each 1st place finish in a category, that community will earn 3000 points. Every 2nd place finish will earn that community 2000 points, and third 1000 points. The blogger community with the MOST points after all are tallied is declared the Ultimate champion and gains a permanent spot in the hall of fame (which is listed below and is also located on the right sidebar)! So let’s first find out how the points played out and who are category winners are.

- Andrey from investoid.com, NTII surged friday putting it up 3.98% this week - (2,000 Points Earned)
- Susan from cleverdude.com, TYL ended up 1.18% - (1,000 Points Earned)
Top Community Averages FINAL (as of market close 04/13/07)
- The investoid.com community finished in first with a 2.33% Avg Return - (3,000 Points Earned)
- The milliondollarjourney.com community finished in second with a -1.51% Avg Return - (2,000 Points Earned)
- And in third is the cleverdude.com community with a -1.78% Avg Return - (1,000 Points Earned)
Closest Nasdaq Close Guess FINAL (NASDAQ closed at 2491.94 on 4/13/07)
- First place goes to Brandon from StockTrading101 (yay!) with his guess of 2491 which puts him off by only .94, or .037% which is a new contest record! - (3,000 Points Earned)
- In 2nd with a guess of 2490, Frugal Trader from milliondollarjourney.com (off by only 1.68!!) - (2,000 Points Earned)
- And in 3rd with a guess of 2495.00, Andrey from investoid.com (off by 3.06) - (1,000 Points Earned)
AND THE WINNER IS
It all came down to the NASDAQ close price with the communities of milliondollarjourney.com and investoid.com tied both with 5000 points, but group leader Frugal Trader earned his community 2000 points in last round slipping by investoid.com by LESS THAN .01% to take the title, what a finish!!! The final point standings look like this:

- Investoid.com with 6000 Points
- StockTrading 101 (woohoo!) with 3000 Points
Congratulations MillionDollarJourney community, you have taken the Stock Contest Alpha title and will now be added to the Hall of Fame on the sidebar here at the Stock Trading 101 blog! This was BY FAR the CLOSEST finish we have had here, and when it comes to Nasdaq Closing Price guesses, I really wonder if anyone will be able to break this new record of .037% off the close!
I would like to thank all of our communities who were involved in this round, and hope you return for the next stock contest BETA which will be not this week (every week following a contest is an off week) but the week thereafter!
