Alright, I am pretty energized currently as I am “dog sitting” my mom’s bull dog this week who’s name is Ruby (picture at the end), but anyway we need a ridiculously long name for this week’s stock contest, and so here it is (written on the spot),

The contest this week is the, “Pick two stocks and try to beat out eMom though there really is no true purpose” stock contest! So, over the weekend I went around asking some outstanding stock bloggers (whom will be listed below) and one unrelated blogger (who is a ridiculously cool Mom) to share two stock picks for the week. I will keep track of their picks in (can you guess it?) an excel sheet, and update their returns throughout the week. The contestant with the highest avg growth between both picks after the close on Friday March 30th will be declared our winner!

THE CONTESTANTS

Let’s meet our contestants!! (lights dim…)

- From the elite of the elites, our 1st contestant is all about sorting through the market noise and staying ahead of the curve… He is featured quite often at ST101, and was a Bloomberg Radio host before turning outstanding blogger… please welcome from the one and only Kingsland Report… JJJJJJJIIIIIIMMMMM Kingsland!!! (chants and cheers)

- And joining him all the way from Alberta Canada… he is all about putting finance and investing in perspective… please welcome 25 year old former tech entrepreneur from his site investoid.com… INNNNNNVESTOID!!!

- Also from Canada… he began investing in mutual funds at only 16 years old and reports on his blog what is the making of a millionaire, a Canadian personal finance story… please welcome…. from the one and only Million Dollar Journey…. FFFFFFFRUGAL TRADER!

- For our fourth contestant this week we have a big-time car fan who’s birthday is actually TO-DAY… please welcome the creator and host of the 2007 blogger’s tournament from derrich.com…. DDDDDDDDERICH!!!

- AND LASTLY, our highlight contestant… she is all about starting, running and succeeding in home business & blogging… her site for Moms is a smash hit bringing in thousands of readers a month, please welcome from eMoms at Home… the beautiful and cool WWWWWWWWENDY PPPPPPIERSALL!!!!

THE RULES

Please note the following rules were created at the time of this writing, and the point system is completely random! Points will be handed out throughout the week and for a variety of different reasons. The contestant with the best overall average return between their two stock picks at the market close on Friday March 29th will get 10,000 bonus points added onto their total score. Summarized this is what you need to know:

  1. Stock picks cannot be changed (sorry Derrich, lol) from over this past weekend.
  2. The point system is completely random! Points will be handed out throughout the week randomly!
  3. Whichever contestant has the best average return % wise between there two picks at the end of the week will earn 10,000 bonus points.

THE LOOT

The winner will join Julie Adams from the Guess the NASDAQ close Contest on our Hall of Fame which is located on the beautifully constructed sidebar to your right. Perks for the winner also include random links and loads of traffic from the blog.

CONTESTANT PICKS

Here are our contestant picks (note that the initial stock price for each pick is based off of Friday March 23rds 4:00 PM close):

Jim KingslandL J International (JADE) and Dendreon (DNDN). Jim’s pick are definitely volatile, and also to note is that Jim called a Straddle on DNDN, so since I didn’t say anything in the rules about picking a straddle, as long as DNDN moves one way or the other he will see green (nice one Jim!)

InvestoidEdwards A G (AGE) and Red Hat (RHT).

Frugal TraderJohnson & Johnson (JNJ) and Google (GOOG).

DerrichBraskem (BAK) and Yahoo (YHOO).

WendyAdobe Systems (ADBE) and ??? Wendy wanted her 2nd pick to be a green-energy type company (solar, hydrogen, etc.) but didn’t know of any off the top of her head (I can’t name too many either). So, instead we are going to DOUBLE whatever results that turn out for ADBE, make it happen Wendy!

STAY UPDATED THIS WEEK, MORE TO COME!

ruby4.jpg

Readership continues to hit new highs each week here on ST101, and to keep updated with this main event, I recommend subscribing to the blog with your favorite reader or by email, either works great!

Conveniently enough there are 5 contestants, and there are 5 days in the week that the market is open. So, to get you closer to our contestants, I am going to give each contestant the spotlight one day of the week and ask them a few quick questions about themselves and their picks. Up first after the market close tonight is Derrich (since it is his birthday and all) alongside an updated leaderboard.

MISSING THE PARTY

Bloggers that are sadly missing this week’s contest due to one reason or another are Trader Mike, Chris Perruna (was in a major poker tourni all weekend and has already vowed to get involved next week), Golbguru, and Brian. These guys are fantastic bloggers and I will work to get them involved down the road here!

CLOSING NOTES

First contest update will come tonight, good luck to our contestants!!
