General Electric (GE) is ready to report third-quarter earnings on Friday prior to the start of trading (at 8:30 AM). Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expect GE to report earnings of 49 cents per share on sales of $39.77 billion, compared with year-ago earnings of 44 cents per share on sales of $41.93 billion. Prudential Equity Group reiterated an “overweight” rating on the stock on Oct. 2, 2006. “Near-term, we believe GE will continue to outperform in an adverse market environment due to its exceptional financials and strong 3.1% yield,” the firm said. So, keep a close eye on GE tomorrow and expect a strong open from the stock if the earnings yield positive results.
