The theme today was “coolness”. What defines a cool stock? Stocks with higher multiples than others, price-to-earnings ratio that is. So, Jim spent a segment going through some cool stocks and some not so cool stocks. Confused yet? It’s Mad Money on CNBC, just go with it.

Cool Stocks

  • Whole Food Market (WFMI)
  • Best Buy (BBY)
  • Zumiez (ZUMZ)

UnCool Stocks

  • Wal-Mart Stores (WMT)
  • Tim Hortons (THI)
  • Home Depot (HD)

So what do you need to do know from this? Well the hidden coolness stock, VF Corp. (VFC) for example. They own Vans footwear and the North Face brand, so there is a coolness premium on it.

Takeover Targets was another segment of Mad Money tonight, and our buddy Jim went into a list of ten stocks (narrowed from 20) that are currently take over targets based on “totally subjective factors”: Broadcom (BRCM), Western Digital (WDC), Palm (PALM), Wind River Systems (WIND), Websense (WBSN), BEA Systems (BEAS), Tibco (TIBX), Filenet (FILE), Avid Technology (AVID), and Activeldentity (ACTI).

Lightning Round Recap

  • Bullish on Evergreen Solar (ESLR), USE (UST), Tata Motors (TTM), and Scientific Games (SGMS), amongst others.
  • Bearish on Cummins Engine (CMI), JDSU (JDSU), Carnival (CCL), and Arch Coal (ACI), amongst others.
