Stock Market Lingo - “Cherry Picking”

Posted by Blain Reinkensmeyer on Monday June 26, 2006

I thought this would be a good lingo word to add to the ST101 Stock Lingo Database. “Cherry Picking” in relation to the stock market simply means choosing a stock from a portfolio that already is performing well. So, let’s say I am scrolling around looking for stocks and I can’t find anything that suits my fancy. Well, perhaps I would check out Warren Buffett’s portfolio and buy a stock that he owns. Next time you go stock picking and you can’t find any leads, go “cherry picking” and see what you can find alright?
